How do you play?
The first step is to remove the lid from the box and place it on top of any phones.
Number ONE Rule of Blackout Cards:
NO PHONES
ALLOWED!
Once the phones are under the lid it's time to take turns picking out a card from the box to reveal a simple question, then simply each take turns answering it.
There are no winners or losers here, which means no potential dramas to worry about.

You can either choose a category or pick a random one. For example, our six-year-old Rufus loves to answer from the Humor category, so he'll choose one from that category, while the rest of the family will pick a random card from the deck.
How it all started
It all began around a decade ago in London with what we whimsically dubbed "Blackout Nights"—Once a week, we'd turn off all our tech and engage in actual real-life conversations. I know, weird, right?
Yes, we felt like Victorians at first, but then something strange happened—we started to enjoy not being glued to our devices.
This cherished practice resurfaced during a family campervan trip in Portugal, where an evening of shared questions reminded us of its importance.
Fuelled by these moments of genuine connection, I created BlackoutCards:

How it all started
Hey, I'm Stef, an ex-journalist turned content creator from London, and I'm the man behind these BlackoutCards.
It all began around a decade ago.
We dubbed them 'Blackout Nights'—once a week, we'd turn off all our tech and engage in actual real-life conversations.
I know, a bit weird, right?
Yes, we felt like confused Victorians at first, but then something strange happened—we started to enjoy not being glued to our devices.
Then life happened, we had kids, moved out of the city, and slowly forgot all about our little Blackout Night ritual.
That was until a family campervan road trip through Portugal, where we'd spend our evenings off screens, asking each other questions we'd written down during the day.
And that's when I had the idea.
When we got back to the UK, I decided to set to work creating a new game called BlackoutCards: The game would consist of hundreds of thought-provoking questions designed to bring families, friends, and couples closer.
Just like they did for us.
In a world dominated by screens, alerts, and notifications, I wanted to create something that felt like a throwback to a simpler time.
I honestly believe they are a necessary antidote to the complexity of today's hyper-connected world.
